GO ELECTRIC WORKSHOP

American Green Zone Alliance (AGZA) and our East Coast strategic partner Quiet Communities (QC) co-hosted an electric lawn and garden equipment workshop in the Town of Southampton, NY, for commercial and municipal crews interested in making the transition from gas to electric equipment.

SOUTHAMPTON TOWN HALL
FRIDAY, MARCH 29, 2019

It was another successful day for the Town of Southampton, AGZA, and QC — furthering education, outreach, and resources for private landscape maintenance companies, municipal staff, and local dealers of battery powered equipment.

AGZA and QC coordinated the “Go Electric” workshop with the Town of Southampton and Councilwomen Christine Scalera. The Town and Scalera have long been proactive leaders of sustainable land care initiatives for their community. In partnership with AGZA and QC over the past two years, they established the nation’s first AGZA Green Zones on the East Coast at East Quogue Village Green and at Southampton Town Hall itself. They then leveraged those programs to offer this groundbreaking workshop opportunity for local licensed landscape maintenance companies to learn about, see, handle, and test out the latest commercial-grade electric equipment.

PURPOSE

To introduce local landscaping businesses to commercial battery-electric equipment and its successful and profitable implementation in overall grounds maintenance operations. This workshop will help each company form an “electric crew” or electric service division capable of servicing residential, business, and institutional clients in Southampton Town and the surrounding area.

ATTENDEES

Thirty management staff (owners, crew leaders/foreman) from leading landscaping companies with a serious interest in offering zero emissions, low noise landscape maintenance in the Town of Southampton. First priority will be given to companies that attended the 9/28/18 meeting at Town Hall. Others will be included as space allows.

WORKSHOP MATERIALS

The workshop will be based on the AGZA Service Pro Certification Course – Level 1, an online course now in beta testing. Materials from the course will be sent to each company prior to the workshop. Topics covered will include: Health and Environmental Benefits; Battery Electric Basics; Work Production; Infrastructure and Charging; Safety; Economics (ROI, Profitability); and Troubleshooting.

WHAT YOU GET FOR ATTENDING

  • Discounts on commercial battery electric equipment
  • Free enrollment in the AGZA Service Pro Certification Course – Level 1
  • AGZA Equipment Selection Guide
  • Directory listings
  • AGZA Accredited Service Pro stickers for an electric service division (once established)
  • One-year free membership in the Quiet Landscaper Program
  • Recognition on Southampton Town’s website
  • Potential for low interest financing

HANDS-ON COMMERCIAL EQUIPMENT SHOWCASE

The indoor session came to a close and workshop participants were anxious to get outside to the tool area where company reps were waiting to showcase AGZA Approved equipment.

AGZA places these tool lines in robust commercial settings, and through our independent testing under a variety of conditions we validate performance, run times, battery cycle life, durability, and ergonomics. AGZA only invites equipment manufacturers to our workshops who have impeccable safety records, honest performance claims, ethical business practices, and adequate professional aftermarket support.
